Teatreeman

Teatreeman a.k.a Matthew Lee has always had an interest in music and creating individual dj mixes from this music. His earliest musical influences were Faith No More, Def Leppard, The Wildhearts, Aphex Twin, Tangerine Dream and Jean Michel Jarre. Creating mixtapes started with listening to radio shows by John Peel and Andy Kershaw. Compilation tapes of mostly African music were created. In the early nineties the commercialisation of Goa left an impression via the Man With No Name remixes of the Killing Joke tracks Millennium and Pandemonium. A few years later he found his first Goa Gil mixtape and was inspired to buy his first set of turntables and vinyl by T.I.P records, Flying Rhino, Maturi, Platipus records, Transient and Blue Room Released. After many years of practising his first dj mixes of trance music were created. Successful dj nights followed and built on this experience the dj set about building his first net label.

Teatreeman's discovey of house music began with an interest in tribal house. This was the result of his earlier interest in African music. The discovery of tribal house led naturally to the discovery of deep house, tech house and progressive house. All these sounds featured in the first incantation of this website. When www.teatreeman.co.uk first emerged in 2005 the website featured dj's from Malaysia and the USA. Dj Haikal and Josh Cooper a.k.a Binary Storm both had dj mixes and their own songs featured as downloads. Always seeking something new Teatreeman started redeveloping the net label in 2011. This current development features trance music and tech house influenced mixes. Current guest artists Dj Galactic and more recently the New Nobility Band from Australia are adding to the labels diversity.

Future ambitions for the dj are to keep the label expanding to include new sounds, artists and musical concepts as well as to aspire to win writing competitions. Checkout Teatreeman's short story on the immarcescible word
